"Back Pain No More: Part III"

Hello from Alison
Welcome to Part III of our Back Pain No More Series! In this edition we will take a look at the person beyond the pain. It is now well-known that there is a vital connection between our emotional, mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Medical pioneer and founder of the Gesundheit (Good Health) Hospital, Dr. Patch Adams, said it best: "We all know how important love is, yet how often is it really emoted or exhibited? What so many sick people in this world suffer from—loneliness, boredom and fear—can't be cured with a pill." Convinced of the powerful connection between environment and wellness, Patch revolutionized the medical field by treating the whole patient and seeing that the health of an individual cannot be separated from the health of the family, the community, and the world.

Focus on Personal Health
Are you happy? Do you like the work you do? Do you feel a sense of purpose in your daily life? Are you living your life with love? Did you know that your answer to these questions is directly linked to your physical health? If you answered no to any of these questions, or all of them, you're not alone. Many of us have been trained to overlook our personal happiness and sense of purpose to perform and survive in our surrounding family, community and work environment. The long-term cost of this behavior can be physical injury or disease. If your body pain is chronic, you will see your best results and quickest turnaround in health by addressing it physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Here are the top five keys to approaching your health holistically:

1. See pain as being both literal and symbolic. For example, if you or one of your colleague's is experiencing back pain, in addition to stretching and exercise (physical action), you may increase your recovery time by also addressing underlying emotions and thinking patterns that are frequently associated with back pain. Louise Hay, a master at illuminating underlying issues that result in pain, shares that back pain can be a reflection of fear of money (low back pain) or a feeling of lack of emotional support or feeling unloved (upper back pain). She offers affirmation remedies: "I trust the process of life. All I need is always taken care of. I am safe." See www.louisehay.com for more information.

2. Mental Key for Well-Being. Identify what your daily repetitious thoughts are. Do you affirm that you are destined for wellness or are you imagining yourself decaying and feeling worse as time passes? Affirm: I accept healing now. I see and feel myself thriving in daily life. I am abundant in all good things. I release any and all things, which do not serve my highest good.

3. Emotional Key for Well-Being. Feelings are our compass to staying on track with a life of well-being. Do you live daily life feeling afraid, bitter, hostile or overwhelmed? All of these are natural feelings that we may experience during the course of our lives. However, if you are feeling this way on a regular basis, it is a great clue that something in your life, past or present, needs to be addressed. Perhaps, you have lost a loved one or are experiencing a relationship breakup. It is important to acknowledge the significance of these life events in order to move-on. Connect with a great counselor who can help coach you to a life of joy, peace and enchantment. I just happen to know a great one! Contact Val Ward at 808-874-8138 for more information.

4. Spiritual Key for Well-Being. You are not your body. A radiant and shimmering soul is your true essence. Don't believe me? Visit your local pathologist to attend an autopsy and see first hand that there is nothing more lifeless than a dead body. Standing side-by-side a corpse is a clear reflection that it is the spirit that animates us. When our loved ones pass, we don't run to the morgue to share tea. Staying connected to your soul is the optimum way to generate your health. Answer this question: How does my soul thrive? This is the key to your spiritual health. My soul thrives being in nature and spreading the messages of health and wellness to humanity.

5. Tying it All Together. Like a spider web, your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual bodies are deeply interconnected. If you pull on one end of the web the entire web moves. Remember to address your pain from the inside out. See yourself as a multi-dimensional being with the ability to heal yourself instantaneously through your clear and powerful action, thinking and being.
